A C.B.S.E. Capacity Building Programme based on the theme of ‘Gender Sensitivity’, was organized on 28th September 2016, at N.C.Jindal Public School, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi,. The programme witnessed the participation of 42 esteemed schools of Delhi and NCR. The session took off with a welcome address by the Principal of the host School, Dr. D. K. Pandey and a floral welcome to the C.B.S.E resource person, Mr. C.B. Mishra, Principal Presidium School, Ashok Vihar. Mr.Mishra shed light on the differences between Gender and Sex. He also deciphered the stereotypes, biases and roles associated with male and female gender .He engaged the participants in practicing self reflection using checklists and activities to uncover personal gender biases and the course of action required to overcome the same. He emphasized on creating a gender sensitive school environment. Dr. Renu Malviya, Associate Professor, Lady Irwin College, University of Delhi brought to light concepts such as Gender Mainstreaming, Gender Relations, Feminity, Gender Blindness, Gender Empowerment and Gender Senstivity. She guided the participants through self reflection sheets of application of Gender Senstivity in classroom and Gender Sensitivity Lesson Planning. The Capacity Building Programme set about new standards in creating a Gender Sensitive School Environment .
